POSITION SUMMARY
The Training Program Manager is responsible for the quality of the training program. They oversee a continual process of keeping i.c.stars curriculum and projects up to date, lead the delivery of stand-up training and individualized instruction, and oversee the recruitment, assessment, and placement process. The role requires regular analytical and metrics-based reporting to other staff, board members, and stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum Development
- Conduct annual evaluation with i.c.stars employers and alums (identify target survey recipients [current, former, and prospective employers], execute survey, analyze and compile results, present to Program Committee with recommended prioritized list of changes)
- Research new curriculum that can be utilized for free and/or purchased
- Identify curriculum that needs to be created
- Identify and recommend needed changes in the recruiting process and/or assessment process based on changes in the market needs
- Procure and/or Design and Develop new curriculum in one of the 2 core i.c.stars curriculum components - workshops and projects
- Technology workshops
- Leadership workshops
- Business workshops
- Corporate RFP Competition Project
- Business Plan Competition Project
- Non-profit Website Project
- Identify Non-profit Project Grant recipient
- Work with Technology Trainer to solicit proposals from Community partners to be the i.c.stars web application recipient for the year
- Evaluate proposals against learning needs from annual survey
- Communicate results with all community partners who submitted proposals
- Work with Technology Trainer to develop updated Project Materials for students
Training Delivery and Facilitation
- Attend daily Executive Guest Speaker sessions (“High Tea”) and facilitate leadership coaching through debrief sessions
- Lead the daily morning and evening discussions (“All skate”) and facilitate the resolution of issues
- Facilitate scheduled workshops on professional behaviors, leadership, project management, and business culture
- Attend each client project meeting (Projects 1-3) and facilitate the debrief session using the facilitator guide
- Make notes on ways to improve the facilitator guide and update accordingly
- Ensure interns provide quantitative satisfaction feedback on the quality of workshops and debrief sessions
Staff and Volunteer Training
- Train new staff on recruitment assessment scoring rubrics
- Train staff on debriefing Executive Guest Speaker sessions and Daily morning/evening discussions
- Train staff on facilitating workshops
- Train certified instructors to build capacity for scale through Education Partners
Individualized Coaching
- Score and grade Leadership workshops
- Create individual education plans (IEPs) with interns and conduct bi-weekly status checks
- Conduct and record intern performance reviews after each project
- Provide counseling to interns and make referrals to counseling partners when needed
- Conduct weekly meetings with intern project managers
- Record attendance each day and manage probation process for individuals who violate the policy
Recruitment and Enrollment
- Manage relationships with community partners
- Recruit and schedule Community Leaders as speakers for High Tea
- Identify and schedule Community organizations to receive 1 day technology training sessions at their facility for their participants (“Webstudios”)
- Promote integration of leadership, business and technical processes through advocacy activities in community
- Assess and evaluate partners for fit with objectives (recruitment sourcing and alumni volunteering opportunities)
- Manage the candidate assessment process
- Recruit and train technical interviewers using i.c.stars documented process
- Recruit and train recruitment process evaluators (people who score candidates throughout the assessment process)
- Ensure applications are scored in a timely fashion and following up with candidates accordingly
- Recruit and train staff on Panel interview process and selection of candidates into each cycle
- Conduct and train alums to facilitate new internship cycle orientation
Reporting
- Compile monthly performance data from workshop grades, workshop satisfaction, performance reviews, mock interviews, and client feedback to present to the Program Committee
- Compile list of at-risk students who may need additional resources and present at weekly staff meeting
- Compile weekly recruitment report and present risks/celebrations in weekly staff meeting
- Compile monthly recruitment report and send to Board Committee for discussion
- Review quarterly employer satisfaction and on the job performance reports to identify any issues that can be resolved by changes to the program

- Principles and procedures for delivering effective adult training and developing curriculum
- Media creation, communication, and distribution techniques and methods
- Best Practices and methods for personnel recruitment and selection.
- Clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Candidates must posses, or have the educational equivalence to, a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts or education, and an additional 2-10 years of experience in classroom education, preferably in the Chicago Public High Schools, Alternative Education System, or Big4 Consulting.

- The job may require some traveling in the Chicago area to conduct presentations
- The position requires a 40-60 hour/week commitment
